The inspiration and style behind this painting

Whilst this original painting ‘Sunrise Shadows’ has found its forever home, it represents the core theme that flows through my entire portfolio of small acrylic abstract paintings which capture the fleeting beautiful light of the landscape. My artwork dances between two worlds which occasionally meet. In some pieces I let vibrant colour palettes and bold energetic brushstrokes take centre stage for a purely abstract feel and in others I lean into my impressionistic style using softly blended tones to recreate the mood of a horizon. Though this small canvas is now sold the same light and energy are waiting to be discovered in my remaining paintings.

Finding beauty in the details

As I paint most of my paintings with a focal point in mind especially my smaller pieces, they bring an instant feature to a room which is then much easier to design your furniture around or by picking a undertone from the painting to anchor the room and unify the surrounding decor.

When I’m painting I enjoy the touches of detail on the horizon as a focal point, all the different tones from yellow, oranges, pinks, ochres and pale and dark greens in the foreground and then all those gorgeous blue tones in the light in the the sky and the lower clouds. My paintings would fit with any room colour and decor, whether you choose a large canvas that really dominates the room or one of my smaller paintings. There’s something for everyone.
