Studio View Blog: Latest Artworks, News and Inspiration.
This Blog ‘Studio View’ is a regular update of my new work, upcoming exhibitions, some work in progress images and photographs of what inspires me to paint.
My work is all about the ever changing light in the landscape.
“Atmosphere is the sensation directed upon the viewer, whereas mood is the actual feeling provided”.
Here’s a new impressionist landscape painting: Melancholy Sun
The series explores the changing light on the landscape at different times of day and across the seasons showing how light can vary so dramatically and celebrating the challenge of capturing its fleeting beauty
Here’s a quick preview of some of my contemporary impressionist paintings being shown at my new exhibition in London.
Excited to be showing my new collection of impressionist paintings at the ‘Last Supper Gallery’ in Battersea, London from Thursday March 12th to at least the 4th April 2026.
Look forward to seeing you there………
Just finished this new impressionist landscape painting.
This painting carries a strong sense of movement in the sky, the gorgeous peachy tones rising and blending into the blue and grey, with just the faint glimmer of the day still lingering.
Could it be the ideal painting for you……..
Here’s another small abstract painting: Sunburst Morning
This painting is a very spontaneous piece that I always gravitate toward when the artwork is smaller. I particularly love the bright yellow brushstrokes, the lively interplay of colour and light, and the rich texture that gives the surface a tactile, expressive depth.
Would this fit your space………..
My latest landscape painting: Sunset Melody
This new painting, ‘Sunset Melody’ is part of my latest collection in a series of beautiful, evocative sunsets painted in my semi-abstract style capturing the fleeting and poetic mood of evening light.
Just reminiscing about this painting: Breaking Dawn
Just reminiscing about this painting ‘Breaking Dawn’ which was one of my first acrylics after switching over from pastels although both mediums still retain that soft, blended style I love.
Sunlit Breath the ideal painting for that small space.
My inspiration comes from nature but the interpretation is guided by my own feelings and a personal response to the mood, colour and sense of space in the light combined with my own emotional memories.
Could you find a place for this painting………..
My large impressionist canvas paintings
My large stretched canvas acrylic landscape paintings are primarily impressionist in style although I often introduce the occasional abstract touch to add texture, energy and shadows to the light.
Some more small paintings on paper
The freedom of small paintings is wonderfully different from larger canvases which demand greater concentration, careful blending and much more time. These small studies are much more spontaneous, colourful and usually more abstract in brushstrokes and composition.
This stunning impressionist painting showing the beauty of the evening light.
Just as the sun dipped below the horizon its orb merged into an orange glow lifting the red peachy clouds into the soft blues and greys in the sky, whilst the landscape melted into the shadows.
Could this painting be yours………?
Impressionist painting with blended tones and soft subtler brushstrokes.
I painted this after waking very early one morning and watching how quietly the dawn evolved, each subtle shift in colour in the air interpreted in the brushstrokes and the quiet and cool light evolving the palette resulting in a rhythm in the painting.
Continuing my abstract series of Spring paintings
I’m continuing my current early Spring series of paintings on canvas and paper which are inspired by the delicate, shifting light in the landscape at this coming time of the year.
I wonder which one is your favourite……….
A beautiful small selection of abstract and impressionist landscape paintings
See a small selection of my abstract and impressionist paintings in various sizes and click on a category to view more, then take your time to find a painting you really love to perfectly suit your space, or give as the perfect gift to someone special.
My new little abstract landscape painting: Into the clouds
In this painting there are broader sweeps of colour and looser brushstrokes, so it is a much more abstract piece compared with many of my more recent works, conveying a more free and expressive mood, and allowing forms to suggest rather than define the landscape.
Can you imagine it in your own interior space……..
Stunning swirling colours and the warm tones of Evening Radiance
This is one of my impressionist sunset paintings and one of my largest at 102 x 76 cm, but it’s definitely a piece I really enjoyed creating.
I wanted to capture that dancing sky of endless sunsets, where colours appear at different times and rise upward, topped by a soft, glowing horizon.
A constantly moving scene.
