I love how vibrant colours can bring an abstract painting to life.
In ‘Sunrise Curves’ the use of ochre, peach and cream in a limited palette simplifies the colours of the natural landscape. Then the vivid red brushstrokes on the horizon bring movement and texture to the morning light. I love how the touches of yellow create additional intensity.
Quite often the smaller studies are completed using paint leftover after I have finished a larger canvas. They are my own interpretation of landscapes I have seen and remembered but I hope the viewer can interpret something too, and sense the beauty and serenity in the natural landscape.
‘That moment when the morning light and the heat of the sunrise make the reflecting clouds dance in the sky and roll away the shadows of night’…………..
