Small Original Acrylic Painting on Paper: Rustic Breeze
In my latest original acrylic landscape ‘Rustic Breeze’, I wanted to explore the delicate balance between the sky and the landscape. This painting is 26 × 28 cm and is an intimate look at an horizon alive with shifting light. The composition is anchored by smaller deliberate touches of ochres and cream right where the land meets the air, creating a luminous focal point that draws the eye across the whole expanse.
Shifting Skies: From Cream to Shadowy Blue
Above this glowing horizon line the sky takes on a life of its own. I painted a dramatic gradient that captures the natural transition of a closing day where the atmospheric colours ascend fluidly from a soft cream to a pale blue before ultimately deepening into shadowy, darker blues at the very top of the painting. It is a study of contrast, the warmth of the earth meeting the cool sweeping oncoming breeze.

Capturing Energy Through Dynamic Brushstrokes
What truly defines this piece is the sense of kinetic energy embedded within the paint itself. Rather than rendering a static scene, I focused heavily on creating movement through layered dynamic brushstrokes. You can feel the wind moving through the space, the paint is applied with an urgency that mimics the effect of the breeze over an open landscape.
In the foreground, I introduced bright, energetic highlights of light, adding depth and texture to the surface of the paper. These quick, visible marks contrast beautifully with the softer transitions in the sky, giving the artwork a tactile, breathtaking feel.
