Broody Skies - 22.5 x 22.5 cms

An acrylic painting of a landscape featuring a vivid blue sky with dark grey clouds gathering above a shadowy countryside. A faint hint of light glimmers on the distant horizon, capturing that fleeting moment when it feels as though rain is about to fall.

The rainclouds are broody and moving swiftly across the sky, while a sharp shaft of light from the horizon casts strong, elongated shadows across the landscape below.

This piece beautifully illustrates the dramatic effect that shifting clouds have on the interplay of light and shadow across the landscape beneath.

Summer’s Kiss - 23 x 21 cms

There is a subtle hint of a sunset in this painting gently suggested by the soft glimmer of peachy tones scattered across the sky. The light blues persist, trying to hold their place but quietly knowing they will soon fade away into the approaching dusk.

The sky here is more smoothly blended than in my smaller paintings which often lean towards a more abstract style with bolder, more visible brushstrokes.

I especially love the gorgeous warm tones along the horizon where delicate details of lemon yellow shimmer alongside the faintest touch of orange just barely peeking through.

Ochre Skies - 24 x 24 cms

The series explores the captivating light of sunrises and sunsets during this particular time of year, highlighting the beautiful and vibrant colours that appear in the sky.

In this painting, the delicate pink hues are especially striking, complemented by the subtle glimmer of blue sky peeking through the clouds.

I thoroughly enjoyed the process of painting this piece experimenting with a variety of colours that might not typically blend together.

However, I believe they harmonize beautifully here, which inspired the title ‘Ochre Skies’.

Rolling Mist - 26 x 21.5 cms

This small landscape painting was inspired by the serene North Downs capturing its beautiful vista and the richly varied green tones of the gently rolling hills.

The deeper landscape hues of purple and green intermingle with the soft blues of the sky meeting at the distant horizon and blending seamlessly within the enveloping, delicate rolling mist.

Wispy clouds drift gracefully across the expansive sky showcasing an array of shifting blues that continuously move and change, creating a sense of tranquility and natural harmony.
