How different can two seascape paintings be?
Both painted on paper, which is your favourite?
These two seascapes are so different but both are painted on paper and roughly the same size but clearly very different. In colour palette, texture and brushstrokes. My smaller paintings are generally more spontaneous and more like studies and ideas for larger paintings.
Even though these two have a lot of brushstrokes ‘Sunset Sea’ has a lot more fluidity in the use of brushstrokes and water was used with the acrylic more like watercolour quite washes to enable the paint to move more easily unlike ‘Moonlit Sea’ which had a lot of dry brush work which you can see especially in the horizon in the blue, white paint and the strokes of colour in the sky.
‘Moonlit Sea’ is more moody and atmospheric as opposed to ‘Sunset Sea’ which is more calming and tranquil which I’m sure has something to do with the colours I used.
I think each would suit the right space as they’re both small and with the right frame would draw you in. If these two aren’t quite what you’re looking for then take a look at my other small paintings on paper here.
If it’s larger paintings that your looking for then you can also take at my portfolio.
