Behind the Brush: My Large Canvas Process and Technique
My large stretched canvas acrylic landscape paintings are primarily impressionist but with the occasional abstract touch. I use brushstrokes building layers of paint creating light, colour, shadows and texture to emulate the evocative feel of the landscape. The sense of space and mood in something so vast and how it changes colour and contours at different times of the day depending on the light is an inspiration to me.
I paint dramatic impressionist and abstract landscapes and seascapes which are inspired by my love of the countryside and the many and varied places I have visited, creating the atmosphere and feeling of a scene with colour, texture and light.
I see a landscape as evocative, a place that can provide memories but where we can all interpret something different even looking at the same scene.
