My large impressionist canvas paintings

My large stretched canvas acrylic landscape paintings are primarily impressionist though I do often introduce the occasional abstract touch.

I use continual brushstrokes and layered paint to build up light, colour, shadow and texture evoking the atmosphere and presence of the landscape.

The vast sense of space and the shifting mood of the scenery as it changes throughout different times of the day continually inspires my work.

I paint dramatic impressionist and abstract landscapes and seascapes drawing on my deep love of the countryside and the many and varied places I have visited, creating the mood and atmosphere of each scene through layered colour, texture and subtle shifts of light.

My love of the countryside and the way it changes form at different times of day depending on the light, along with the continual shifting of contours and colours, is a constant source of inspiration to me.

I see a landscape as evocative, a place that can provide lasting memories and quiet reflections, yet one where each of us may interpret something different even when looking at the same scene. I aim to depict the expansive sense of space and subtle mood within something so vast capturing both atmosphere and personal interpretation.
