My new impressionist painting: Morning Shimmer

Morning Shimmer impressionist landscape painting by Mary Burtenshaw

Morning Shimmer - 50 x 50 cms

This is one of my very recent paintings and it has a lot of movement and atmosphere. The sweeping blending of muted peach, red and orange and the stroke of paler blue gives the impression of the day approaching, dissolving into a lighter horizon where pale ochre and soft cream suggest distant fields caught in an early morning haze.

Broad brushstrokes create a textured surface that hint at breeze and motion, while delicate veils of transparent wash lend a sense of atmosphere.

Small touches of burnt sienna and graphite punctuate the composition, anchoring the eye and introducing a quiet difference between land and sky. The overall effect is restrained yet expressive, a contemporary impressionist landscape that balances abstraction with the familiar rhythms of nature inviting a contemplative viewing.

This luminous contemporary impressionist landscape brings a serene yet invigorating presence to any room with soft, layered brushstrokes and a sophisticated palette of muted blues, warm creams and subtle ochres which create depth and light that move, inviting quiet reflection.

It could hang above a sofa or mantelpiece or in a study as a calming focal point.

Painted on a deep stretched canvas and ready to hang this painting delivers both an instant mood lift and a lasting sense of place, an investment in atmosphere as much as art.
