I really enjoyed the spontaneity of painting this smaller canvas where the broader brushstrokes create a more abstract feel with bold colours and a rich texture. The vibrant movement of the brushstrokes almost gives the work an organic flow suggesting the light and form of the landscape more intuitively.

I remember painting this with my favourite music in my ears. My brushstrokes were quite continuous hardly washing the brush or lifting it off the canvas. It all came together easily as the different tones and subtle colour variations in both the sky and the foreground found their balance.

An abstract landscape painting showing the last light the day with colours, movement and texture of the brushstrokes.

‘Molten Breeze’ - 40 x 40 cms - Acrylic on stretched canvas

As the sun slowly set the evening breeze made the light shimmer into the descent into twilight.

I was lucky enough to sell this painting at the ‘Wykeham Gallery’ in a group exhibition. As an artist you can sometimes feel thrown off course, so it’s reassuring to know when you’re on the right track.
