Three beautiful atmospheric landscape paintings
Which one would be your favourite?
These three paintings share a very similar palette and have all been inspired by winter sunsets featuring the gorgeous warm tones I’m always drawn to, yet each one remains distinctive in its own way. Each painting has its own delicate touches and individual detail so I don’t really have a favourite. One may capture a particular sky, another the way the light filters through, and a third subtle textures along the distant horizon’ Each of them quietly tells its own story.
I do love how the light both ascends and descends in sunsets and sunrises. It may be the light peeping through the clouds, the soft glimmer of pale blue of the day that is about to happen or has just been, or the rich oranges and reds that appear as the day begins or disappears. There’s always so much to see, to feel, and to linger over in those shifting moments.
These canvases combine elements of both impressionism and abstraction particularly in the skies which are more softly blended using much larger brushes. The horizon by contrast reveals an abstract quality through more defined smaller brushstrokes that create texture and movement.
These are all 40 x 40 cm stretched canvases painted in acrylic with careful attention to texture and colour. You can find more examples on my large canvas paintings page, or please email me if you have any questions or would like further details.
