‘Sunrise Ascent’

This new painting was inspired by some of the recent winter sunrises we’ve been having with soft morning hues and the light ascending gently over the landscape.

There are such gorgeous skies at this time of year with soft, translucent light and subtle colours that make every morning feel a renewal, fresh and quietly full of optimism.

I love capturing the light in the sky with a variety of tones and shifting shadows, then adding delicate and intentional touches of detail with smaller brushes along the distant horizon to evoke that perfect moment when the light begins to ascend.
