Today’s affordable landscape painting is: Windswept Evening

This could be the perfect size for any space……

Today’s affordable landscape painting is ‘Windswept Evening’ (22.5 x 22.5 cm) and it’s available on my website on the Affordable Art page.

This new painting has had quite a journey and quite a few lives but it came good in the end. I really enjoyed painting this with the contrast of light and shadow.

The tones of ochre and and pale greens really work well as the colours of early evening and the windswept glow of white on the horizon. It was painted with quite dry paint which fixed well to the paint below.

The sky has lots of different beautiful blue tones and the contrast of light blue with the darker blues and green really gives the impression of early evening shadows.

I think my favourite part of the painting is the brushstroke of rusty brown in the foreground as well as that glow of white in the sky.

All the greens work well in the shadows running into almost blacks on the horizon.

What size would suit you best, the actual size on the left or maybe a print on canvas at a larger size would make more of a impact?

I really like experimenting on sizes as well as seeing a painting framed as it often helps me to decide whether I think the painting is finished.

‘Windswept Evening’ is similar in technique to most of my smaller abstract landscape paintings.
