3 Ways an original painting can redefine your space.

You do not need a full renovation to completely transform the energy of your room.

A large original painting for a living room acts like a magnet. Without a clear anchor, furniture can look unorganised and scattered. By hanging a statement piece above your sofa you instantly tell the eye exactly where to look.

You have probably looked at a corner of your home and it felt something was missing? You’ve got the perfect sofa and the right lighting, but the room still feels a bit quiet and cold.  That is because spaces don’t just need furniture I feel they need a spark of your personality and sparks of human energy.  I paint because I want to create that exact missing piece for you, painting that doesn’t just sit on your wall but because you have a connection with that piece and you’ve fallen in love with it. then it redefines how you feel about that space every time you walk into the room.

Every painting I create holds a specific energy and that ‘special one moment in time’ and when you bring one of my original paintings into your home you aren’t just buying wall decor.  You are hopefully buying into that painting and the feeling it gives you each time you look at it and that it will give you that calming and tranquil feeling.  I love the fact that some paintings that have quite often taken many journeys to reach a point where I feel they’re finished and all the energy within it will find it’s new home with you.

Establish an instant, intentional focal point

When I start painting I try and build a visual pathway for your eyes to follow. Placing an original canvas in your home does the exact same thing for your room, it instantly brings all your existing interior elements together with a beautiful single anchor.

I’ve added a few different paintings below in various different interior settings showing that a larger painting could be used as an anchor and focal point to a space especially in a living room.  A large original painting can act as a natural magnet when you walk into a room.  Equally a smaller painting can give an empty corner some definition and personality.

It introduces texture and visual depth

Bringing an original painting into your room the texture and brushstrokes and colours dance in the ever-changing light and shift the mood from morning to night.

An original painting with visual brushstrokes and layers of glazes, even leaving the canvas unframed so you can see the white edges can bring interesting elements that can catch the light throughout the day and often you can see slightly different features or brushstrokes with different light.  It can bring a dynamic interaction creating shadows and subtle movements that make a room feel alive rather than static, and often a talking point especially if your impression of the landscape/scene is different from other peoples impression.

Below you can see a close up of one of my favourite paintings that gives you an example of how visual they can be, particularly the abstract brushstrokes and texture.

Injecting a human connection and personality

Your home shouldn’t feel like a page out of a corporate catalogue. When you hang an original painting from my studio you are bringing the energy and emotion I spent painting the canvas, straight into your home and your daily living space.

Maybe you’ve spent a while coming back again an again to a painting that you’ve fallen in love with and your’re wondering if it will fit and work in your space. I would say that because you have a connection with and you love it it would therefore work in your space for that reason. Also everyone has their own taste so it’s even more important that you have a connection with a painting rather than just buying it because it’s the right size. Even though that is a worthwhile reason it would bring you a long term connection if you already like it, whether it’s the colour, brushstrokes or the impression of that scene that brings that lasting memory…….it’s a connection.

Below are two completely different original paintings, one is much more abstract which shows a lot more brushstrokes and on paper, whereas the second one is much more impressionistic and painted on a much larger stretched canvas, but both would enhance a room but in different ways.

Bringing the soul of the studio into your home

Ultimately a house becomes a home when it reflects the people who live inside it. Mass produced decor can fill a void on a blank wall but it can never replicate the warmth , energy and depth of an original painting created by hand.

So bringing an original painting into your living room is more than an interior design choice it’s an investment in how you feel every day within your own walls. Whether you are looking for unique wall decor ideas to anchor a room or a vibrant piece of abstract canvas art to spark a daily inspiration, the right artwork has the power to completely redefine your personal environment.

Your walls are waiting for a story……
