Beautiful New Spring Landscape Paintings for Sale
My new Spring series of paintings on canvas are inspired by the light in the landscape at this time of year. I concentrate on colour and movement in the light and shadow with the use of strong colours and bold brushstrokes.
As the evenings get longer and the colours of Spring begin to emerge I have been inspired to paint this new Spring series.
Inspiration Behind the Spring Art Collection
I replicate the energy using brushstrokes to recreate the sense of the atmosphere in the shadows on the horizon and in the light in the sky. It was good to get away from the muted tones of winter to the new seasonal colour palette and focus on the mark making and brushstrokes to evoke the impression of light on the landscape, creating brief windows of time where everything felt renewed with the gorgeous colours and dancing shadows.

‘Spring Twilight’
Acrylic on canvas - 29 x 29 cms
This painting ‘Spring Twilight’ one of my favourite abstract paintings is probably one of my most abstract with all the large brushstrokes especially the orange and yellow on the horizon.
I like the dark shadows in the foreground and bold but minimal brushstrokes creating movement upward.
The white gives the right amount of light in the peachy background with the burgundy and brown coming through the blues in the sky. The sunset was almost gone but it somehow still feels warm.
‘Spellbound Spring’
Acrylic on canvas - 23 x 23 cms
An acrylic painting of intense Spring light colours on the horizon, pink and red clouds in the sky and a light green landscape below.
‘Spellbound Spring’ has the light, fresh vivid colours of Spring dancing on the horizon pushing pink and red clouds up into the sky and casting fresh light on to the green landscape below.
‘Twilight Clouds’
Acrylic on canvas - 25 x 27 cms
This painting has gorgeous muted greys and blues in the sky and lots of texture with the brushstrokes, especially with that stroke of blue dancing across the sky.
I feel the foreground has a lot of movement with the ochres and green tones and tweaks of darker blue and deep ‘hookers green’. The light on the horizon gives the painting a lot of depth with the glimmer of the evening approaching.
‘Nightfall Echo’
Acrylic on canvas - 22 x 22 cms
I loved this painting as soon as I did it because it was just so spontaneous and I feel it has a lot of movement. You can see the spontaneity in the brushstrokes and sweeps of colour especially in the dabs of vivid pink just below the grey and the dabs of the peachy tones which give the atmosphere and impression of the oncoming sunset with all those beautiful colours.
It’s definitely one of my favourites and probably always will be because some paintings you just love.
How to Style Spring Art in Your Home
Adding paintings can instantly transform a room. Here is a how to display your new paintings to maximise their impact and compliment your interior design. Smaller paintings can be much easier to hang as they don’t need as much consideration as larger pieces.
You can just stand them on a mantelpiece, on a shelf, on a few books or on a table whilst you find the perfect space for your new painting. As you can see below the new original painting would enhance even the smallest of areas and bring harmony to a small office space or little nook.
You should always avoid direct sunlight so place the original painting away from harsh, all day sun to prevent colours from fading especially if the painting is unframed. You can obviously get sun protected glass when framing paintings. As all my smaller more affordable paintings come with a mount and ready to frame you can happily live with it as there’s always that little nook that would be ideal for a painting.
Obviously it’s a personal choice when it comes to framing but I personally like a thiner frame so the frame doesn’t distract from the painting but I know lots of people like to have the frame as part of their decor so it acts as a bridge between the artwork and your your room’s existing decoration.
