Acrylic landscape painting of the day is: Oncoming Dusk

This painting would blend with any room colour decor.

My new acrylic landscape painting is ‘Oncoming Dusk’ which continues my latest series of sunrises and sunsets, concentrating on the light and colour at those times of the day.

There is just the right amount of colour and light in this painting where the last light of the day is trying to stay for as long as possible.

As with some of my recent paintings I used a lot of dry brushwork on top of existing paint as it clings on to the texture below.

I like how there’s just a glimmer of the day still hanging on within the sky and the impression of the foreground shadows and light just showing all created by using quite abstract brushstrokes.

I did enjoy painting the touches of detail on the horizon as a focal point with all the yellow tones, ochres and pale greens in the foreground and then all those gorgeous blue tones as the light descends down almost sitting on the horizon as the lower clouds cling to the light that is left.
