My Inspiration Behind ‘Daybreak Muse’
There is a fleeting moment, just before the sun appears over the horizon where there was dark now becomes full of colour. That crisp quiet morning energy by the lake is exactly what inspired my latest original painting, Daybreak Muse. I wanted to capture the heavy mist and the warm tones shining through the darker clouds on the horizon and the first glimpse of light cascading down.
This was painted in my more impressionist style with a lot of blended layers starting with building up rich warm under layers of cadmium orange and coral, allowing them to glow through the final cool shades of the morning sky. It's then I add in the detail on the horizon and focal point to pull the viewer in and tell a story. I am always trying to capture that perfect moment when the sun rises or descends. Even if it’s fleeting there’s always something so beautiful and all so different.
This painting is still one of my favourites and even though it had a journey to get where it is it was an enjoyable journey that I escaped into with music and time. I know soon it will find its new home but until then I’ll enjoy looking at it on my studio wall. It would make that perfect statement and it’s ready to hang with white edges or you could sit it on a mantlepiece or sideboard until you decide.
