Today’s acrylic landscape painting on paper is: Silent Mists

Movement, fluidity and shadows……

Silent Mists - 24 x 26 cm acrylic on paper

This landscape painting on paper was painted in my spontaneous style as I was working on some ideas for a larger canvas.

I wanted to explore the different skies you get this time of year but using blues and greys and not my usually go to warmer tones. I still wanted to get movement, fluidity of colour and shadows and light especially in the foreground. You can see the brushstrokes and the texture from the paper showing through.

I also used a lot more ochre tones to recreate the light in the foreground. To create movement in the sky I used various different tones with changes of direction when using the brushes.

You might be able to see some swirling brushstrokes which I usually only use on my larger canvases but as this painting was on paper I had to paint quite fast as the paint dries so quickly, especially in this weather.

There’s more new paintings within my portfolio shown here or you might like to take a look at my larger work here.

I love to hear from you if you have any questions or you would like to purchase a painting so email me.
