Every sunset is different and every single one is unique.
Capturing the unique glow of a single moment in time…….
‘Sunset Shimmer’
I truly loved painting this spontaneous sunset, capturing the last warm glow of the day as it gently disappeared into the approaching night. This time, I’ve intentionally added a deliberate shape of the sun, subtly hiding behind the beautiful, vibrant orange light.
I believe the touch of yellow really emphasises and enhances the radiant glow bringing the entire scene to life with a sense of warmth and tranquility.
The gradual dispersal of the orange into blue combined with the subtle blending of various blue tones accented by a gentle touch of orange, evokes a serene impression of the day slowly fading away, and the quiet encroachment of the night.
This painting is in fact only 21 x 21 cm but I do like experimenting with how the painting might look if larger and in different frames.
This process often helps me decide whether a painting feels truly finished or if it needs further refinement.
Exploring these variations allows me to better understand the painting’s potential impact and presentation.
