Here’s your perfect painting to start your collection.

Full of movement and rich texture capturing the dynamics of the landscape this painting invites the viewer to explore its depth and feel.

This painting was the first one I completed since my Mum sadly passed away on 20th September following a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's and then a stroke. Both my parents always believed in my ability as a painter and supported me wholeheartedly even encouraging me to attend Art College at a time when pursuing art was still often frowned upon and not regarded as a proper career.

After their support throughout my life I felt I wanted to try and start painting again as recently I wasn’t in the right head space and I’m now quite certain this piece is one they would both have appreciated. It likely would have reminded my Dad of his beloved North Downs, a place close to his heart, whilst I imagine my Mum would have been drawn to the light in the sky and along the horizon. Additionally, this painting brings to mind some old photos I recently came across from their honeymoon in Scotland, a special memory especially meaningful today as they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Saying all of the above I really did enjoy painting this one more than I initially thought I would, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of escapism that painting usually offers me. The sense of movement in the piece really works beautifully whilst the gorgeous textures and visible brushstrokes add depth and character. The subtle touches of white in the sky truly bring the entire composition together, creating a harmonious balance. I’m not entirely sure whether it was because I was enjoying the process so much, but I hardly washed my brushes at all, which contributed to the lovely variation in tones throughout the artwork.

This painting will soon be added to my new work page here, and in the meantime, you are welcome to explore some additional paintings that I have recently completed over the last few months.
