‘Windswept Shadows’

This new painting is reminiscent of the South Downs close to where I used to live. It just captures the stunning beauty of that beautiful landscape.

Whether the warm sun is gently illuminating the rolling hills in the distance or whether the atmosphere is the drama of a stormy day or the soft light is breaking through the clouds on a crisp autumn morning, each moment is uniquely beautiful.

This particular painting conveys more of an impression of the windswept clouds you often see on one of those fresh, crisp autumnal days, evoking movement and a quiet intensity in the landscape.

I created a sense of movement in the sky by using a variety of directional brushstrokes combined with carefully chosen tones. In the foreground there are rich, gorgeous tones and intricate shadows that add depth and dimension to the composition.

I’m sure you could easily imagine this painting displayed in that perfect space within your home or office where it would evoke and remind you of that special tranquil time of day.
