Transform your space with my new vibrant landscape painting: Nightfall Eve

‘Nightfall Eve’ 40 × 40 cms - Acrylic on canvas

It’s always lovely to paint this size as it’s more immediate but you can still be yourself quite quickly especially with some music on. This size is often a mix of abstract and impressionist as I do love getting some texture on to the canvas and get that ‘feeling’ straight away.

I do love the shaft of light and the vivid yellow on the horizon and also the texture and brushstrokes of ochres, oranges and burnt umbers and the gorgeous greens.

I also love the red tones peeping through the blues of the sky and especially hiding behind the clouds and I added some paler lighter blue so it shows the last glimmer of the day hanging on.

The light descended dragging the last of the heat of the day and then all the shadows and light in the foreground appeared.

There’s quite a lot of blending in the sky with all the lovely red and blue tones and off whites to try and get the right feel and glow.
