Introducing some of my beautiful landscape paintings from my new collection.
My latest paintings all capture the Summer light, colour, and texture.
This new body of work is particularly focused on the recent skies seen at both the tranquil morning hours and the serene evenings.
I have always been deeply drawn to the way light falls differently at various times of the day and to the unique colours that grace both the sky and the surrounding landscape, whether it’s the soft hues of an early morning sunrise or the warm tones of a sunset as the light gradually fades at the end of the day.
My passion lies in capturing that perfect sunrise or sunset within that fleeting moment in time, portraying the delicate shadows cast by the light and the dynamic movement of the ever evolving colour palette.
These acrylic paintings, available in various sizes, represent a blend of styles, a semi-abstract approach seen especially in my smaller works, and a more pronounced impressionist influence particularly evident in my larger pieces.
Here’s a small selection below but you can view the collection here.
Rolling Mist
Acrylic on canvas - 23 x 20 cms
This small landscape painting was inspired by the North Downs with its beautiful vista and the varied green tones of the rolling hills.
The darker landscape tones of purple and green and the blues of the sky both touch the horizon and blend together in the enveloping rolling mist.
The wispy clouds gently cascade across the sky with all the different blues ever moving and changing.
Summer’s Kiss
Acrylic on canvas - 22 x 24 cms
There is a hint of a sunset in this painting with the glimmer of peachy tones in the sky and the light blues trying to stay but knowing they will soon fade away.
The sky is a bit more blended than my small paintings usually are as they usually tend to be more abstract with a lot more brushstrokes. I love the gorgeous warm tones on the horizon with the finer detail of lemon yellow and the smallest touch of orange just showing through.
Sunlit Lustre
Acrylic on canvas - 40 x 40 cms
This painting is a softer, more impressionist painting with a lot of blending especially in the sky. I particularly like the touch of pink and peachy tones on the horizon and the light drifting upward into the the clouds and sky.
I think the touches of greys and blues give the impression of depth and atmosphere as the sunlight breaks through.
Dew on the Downs
Acrylic on canvas - 27 x 20 cms
‘Dew on the Downs’ was painted in memory of my late father who loved the North Downs, especially Colley Hill.
I love the way that you can see for miles and the land gets blurred with the morning sky creating shimmering blue tones. That blue tinge to the landscape contrasts with the lighter reflections from the clouds. I painted this at the time of year when Winter is heading toward Spring when the clouds almost sweep through the landscape in the bright cold air. Despite that, it is quite a restful and peaceful painting at a time of day my father would have loved.
I like the minimal blending and brushstrokes which give atmosphere in the broad Downs landscape.
Radiant Shadows
Acrylic on canvas - 76 x 50 cms
I loved that this painting found a new home as I so enjoyed painting it. This impressionist landscape painting was inspired by Autumn sunsets with the gorgeous yellow, orange, pinks, reds and even purple colours. The light in the sky is so beautiful at that time of the year as the nights are getting darker earlier and earlier, and the warmer tones intertwine with the cold clouds. I love how there’s still a glimmer of the day with the light blue still seemingly hanging on.
I have captured the glow on the horizon with the white, yellow and oranges whilst they push upwards into the sky.
The atmosphere and depth really appealed to me as I always like to capture that one moment in time when colours dance across the sky and the daylight fades and the evening appears.
