Using brushstrokes to build up layers I focusing on light and how it affects colour, shadows and texture in the landscape, to recreate moody and evocative paintings.

I use sprays of water to keep the paint fluid to fine tune the blending.

I really enjoy painting impressive skies with the touches of light creating shadows and then adding finer details especially to the focal point.

I use brushes of different sizes to achieve different brushstrokes so some blend more than others and some just add a little abstract nuance.

Every one of my large stretched canvas paintings takes a different time to finish. Each has it’s own journey. Some take a while and others go in first time, but it is so satisfying when you can step back when it is finished however long that is.
