This painting is part of my ‘Affordable Art’ series and is painted in my semi-abstract style in acrylic on canvas. These very affordable, evocative landscapes use a fluid variation of brushstrokes, tone and colour to create movement, light and atmosphere, each piece expressing mood in my distinctive abstract approach.

It’s often good to see my paintings set in an interior setting mainly to check whether I truly feel they are finished, and also to observe how they sit with furniture and light. Seeing them in different sizes can also inspire me to take a smaller painting and develop it into a larger canvas. I love the freedom and spontaneity of working with a mixture of large and small brushes. This creates rich texture while still allowing for a subtle blending of the colours.

‘Sunburst Morning’ has vibrant brushstrokes combined with colourful tone and rich texture to create a luminous light and subtle atmosphere in an evocative morning radiance, gently bringing a sense of calm and quiet tranquility to that soft time of day.

This painting is a very spontaneous piece that I always gravitate toward when the artwork is smaller. I particularly love the bright yellow brushstrokes along the horizon and the subtle touches of green in the foreground which together create the vivid impression of sunlight warming the fields below.

The delicate strokes of pale blue in the sky suggest the first light of morning just before the sun softly dispels the lingering shadows.
