Look at the beauty and glow of this new painting.
All the stunning shadows, intricate textures, and vibrant, rich colours come together harmoniously to create a truly captivating and immersive visual experience.
This painting, ‘Rolling Shadows’ is beautiful and at a generous size with richly layered textures and deep, dramatic shadows. It features a distinctive and captivating use of colour, evident in the harmonious blend of warm ochres, vibrant Prussian blue, earthy olive green, and one of my personal favourites, Hooker’s green deep, a darker shade of green that some might almost perceive as black.
This painting has undergone several transformations to reach its current form, each stage adding new complexity and depth to the texture, so the tactile quality extends beyond the canvas itself.
The brushstrokes are carefully varied and purposeful, providing just the right balance of intricate detail and fluid movement to truly evoke the serene atmosphere intended.
I particularly love the subtle glowing light along the horizon which beautifully captures the delicate fleeting light filtering gently between the hills as the first soft colours of early daylight gradually emerge.
The sky is quite minimal compared to the richly detailed foreground, yet it still conveys the perfect sense of stillness that morning light brings. The gentle colours created by the ascending light have their own delicate range of beautiful hues, including soft light blue violet, brilliant blue, deep cobalt blue, and greenish blue blended subtly with blue grey. There is also a hint of fresh sky blue, accompanied by creamy tones and gentle flecks of white that add depth and tranquility to the overall atmosphere.
