In this painting I used a little more abstract brushstrokes giving more atmosphere but still blended the upper sky so it created a soft feel.
About the ‘Summer Light’ series of new paintings
This new collection of original impressionist paintings explores the light and atmosphere and the beautiful colours and tones you see especially in a sunrise or sunset. As the light is ever changing I always aim to capture that ‘one moment in time’ and hopefully a scene you can relate to.
My style for my larger original paintings is always in my more impressionist style so it’s definitely more an interpretation of a sunset or sunrise rather than an exact replica. I love the way the light shines through the clouds or the way it hits the landscape below. In my larger canvases I create the atmosphere through layers and layers of slightly different tones in the sky with large almost DIY paint brushes to do all the blending, especially when it come to the skies as it leave some of the under layers to shine through to allow the light to tell it’s own story.
