Shifting light and expressive brushstrokes.

Introducing one of my archive paintings from my collection that combines contemporary impressionism with bold abstraction evoking the shifting light and textures of the landscape. This painting rendered on stretched canvas with layered washes and expressive brushwork invites that ‘one moment in time’ we all understand.

Summer’s Eve

21 x 23 cms - Acrylic on canvas

This painting from my archive has very abstract but deliberate brushstrokes. It has striking light on the horizon with the strokes of white and the small delicate detail of lime green on the horizon.

It’s interesting for me to look back over older paintings to see how my style has changed over the years. Definitely in the early years I was much more abstract in my mark making but maybe not so now. I think I’ve taught myself with many years of practice how I can create the atmosphere and light I’m always looking to achieve.

Even though now I can see now how I might change the painting I still think it has a lovely glow on the horizon and works as a finished piece.
