The selection shows cohesive contemporary impressionist and abstract landscapes, painted with a careful palette and assured brushwork that balance mood and form.

Lighter, airier canvases add calm and scale to large rooms and smaller, textured pieces add warm focal points to cosy corners, hallways, or studies.

In this painting there are broader sweeps of colour and looser brushstrokes, so it is a much more abstract piece compared with many of my more recent works, conveying a more free and expressive mood, and allowing forms to suggest rather than define the landscape.

Small paper paintings really relax me, especially between or after painting larger canvases. I enjoy the spontaneous use of colour, the freedom of the brushstrokes and experimentation and following unexpected twists and turns in textures. I often use oversized brushes even for the small scale of the size of the painting which creates a loose but really effective result.

This new painting was inspired by some of the recent winter sunrises we’ve been having when soft morning hues and the light ascends gently over the landscape, casting a calm, luminous glow across the fields and distant trees.

It’s a very calming painting and would suit any interior space………

This small study was inspired by the North Downs in Surrey, created as a spark of inspiration for a larger canvas. I often paint a series of smaller works to gather ideas and remain spontaneous and on this occasion I was exploring shifting seasonal light and the subtle reflections it casts across the landscape.

Each painting presents a different view, highlighting the unique beauty of every sunset.
