I always like to see my paintings in situ in an interior setting as I really feel that they are finished and that I am happy with the art. It also helps me imagine what it might look like on a wall in a new location in someone’s home or office, once it has been sold.

My smaller paintings are in acrylic on canvas or paper and are predominantly abstract in style but with some occasional impressionist touches.

I use much more deliberate and bolder brushstrokes to build up the texture but still primarily focus on the light and the colours and shadows to recreate the evocative and ethereal feel of the landscape.

My smaller paintings have that feel of ‘that one moment in time’ that I love to capture with the vastness of the sky and the touches of light and reflecting shadows. I then add fine details especially around the focal point on the horizon.

Certain brushes really create some interesting brushstrokes or work perfectly to achieve blending. I love to experiment with different brushes and colour and tones.

Each of my smaller paintings have their own journey. Sometimes it takes a while and other times it happens first time, but it is so satisfying when the painting really then comes to life.
