This Blog ‘Studio View’ is a regular update of my new work, upcoming exhibitions, some work in progress images and photographs of what inspires me to paint.

Small paper paintings really relax me, especially between or after painting larger canvases. I enjoy the spontaneous use of colour, the freedom of the brushstrokes and experimentation and following unexpected twists and turns in textures. I often use oversized brushes even for the small scale of the size of the painting which creates a loose but really effective result.
New painting: Sunrise Ascent
This new painting was inspired by some of the recent winter sunrises we’ve been having when soft morning hues and the light ascends gently over the landscape, casting a calm, luminous glow across the fields and distant trees.
It’s a very calming painting and would suit any interior space………
This painting was inspired by the North Downs, Surrey
This small study was inspired by the North Downs in Surrey, created as a spark of inspiration for a larger canvas. I often paint a series of smaller works to gather ideas and remain spontaneous and on this occasion I was exploring shifting seasonal light and the subtle reflections it casts across the landscape.
My new beautiful but cold landscape painting: Snow in the sky
One of my very different landscapes capturing that special light on a cold winter’s day……………….
A beautiful atmospheric painting: Autumn Mist
This painting has always been a particular favourite of mine, because of its moody atmosphere and light that evokes a deep sense of calm and atmosphere.
Unlike some of my other paintings it is not vibrant or bright but instead beautifully serene.
This painting is still one of my favourites.
‘Ochre Sunset’ captures that fleeting, magical moment when the last light of the day gently fades away giving rise to the rich bold colours and deep shadows of a truly unique and captivating sunset.
