New painting: Sunrise Ascent
This new painting was inspired by some of the recent winter sunrises we’ve been having when soft morning hues and the light ascends gently over the landscape, casting a calm, luminous glow across the fields and distant trees.
It’s a very calming painting and would suit any interior space………
Today’s beautiful sunset painting is: Sunset Descent
This new sunset painting is from a series exploring the early light of winter sunsets. It features a beautiful combination of warm tones and textured brushstrokes, which conveys the hush and gentle warmth of a descending sun.

This painting was inspired by the North Downs, Surrey
This small study was inspired by the North Downs in Surrey, created as a spark of inspiration for a larger canvas. I often paint a series of smaller works to gather ideas and remain spontaneous and on this occasion I was exploring shifting seasonal light and the subtle reflections it casts across the landscape.
One of my favourite paintings: Molten Sunset
I really enjoyed painting this small canvas (40 × 40 cm). It seemed to flow effortlessly with my favourite music playing, using a single brush that I kept moving around the surface, rarely lifting it or pausing to wash it. The continuous, intuitive approach gives the work a pleasing abstract impressionist quality that I find very satisfying.
A selection of spontaneous abstract small paintings on paper.
If you’re looking for a small painting that bursts with spontaneity, movement and gorgeous colour combinations capturing the essence of the landscape in a very tactile way, you’ll find pieces that fit that description perfectly.
Take a look and let me know which one is your favourite — I’d love to hear which speaks to you.
A beautiful new sunset painting available for sale
You can see all the colour detail I’ve put into this painting on the horizon — from the bright orange glow through the delicate flecks of white to the softly blended red tones that rise gently into the sky, creating subtle shifts of light and atmosphere.
Paintings from the North Downs at different times of the year.
I love painting the North Downs because there’s always different light to capture through the changing seasons whether it’s in the sky with those gorgeous blue tones or in the subtle reflections in the foreground.
Everyday feels different, especially at certain times of year when the sun sits low or climbs high or struggles even to break through shifting clouds.
My new beautiful but cold landscape painting: Snow in the sky
One of my very different landscapes capturing that special light on a cold winter’s day……………….
A beautiful atmospheric painting: Autumn Mist
This painting has always been a particular favourite of mine, because of its moody atmosphere and light that evokes a deep sense of calm and atmosphere.
Unlike some of my other paintings it is not vibrant or bright but instead beautifully serene.

‘Ochre Sunset’ captures that fleeting, magical moment when the last light of the day gently fades away giving rise to the rich bold colours and deep shadows of a truly unique and captivating sunset.

Today’s sunset painting is: Sunset Soul
I love to capture the true essence of a sunset, as each one seems to possess its own unique and captivating personality.
The way the colours blend and shift creates a moment that feels both fleeting but deeply moving.
Three quite different paintings but all painted with the same landscape in mind.
These three small original abstract landscape paintings ‘Windswept Evening’, ‘Mistral Sunrise’ and ‘Evening Rain’ are inspired by the North Downs in Surrey. Each shows the landscape at different times of the day in my unique abstract style, with bold brushstrokes, soft light effects, and rich textures to create a vivid and emotional view of the scenery.
See this painting in an interior setting and imagine it in your own space……..
New sunset painting: Evening Lull
View this beautiful sunset painting that captures that one moment in time when the sunset just hangs in the air providing that atmospheric transition from day to night in a spellbinding array of colour, shadows and texture.
New small painting on paper: Windswept Autumn
This small painting is free and livelier than many of my other paintings with energetic brushstrokes and brighter colours. Working on paper lets me experiment since the paint dries so fast, making me more spontaneous but thoughtful in layering colours for a dynamic but balanced result.
Its perfect to brighten up any interior space………
